Fun Day

I take life too seriously sometimes.  Most times. I forget that there is more to living (MUCH MORE to living) than worrying about money or income or health or people who have differing opinions or whatever else I tend to let myself worry about.  I forget that life is about joy and laughter and connections and relationships and having fun.  I forget that when I stop worrying about everything, it all resolves itself.  It always works out.

And so, I took another spontaneous trip to the beach to help remind myself of this.  To remember how much fun life is and how much I am truly blessed with.  To reconnect with the fun-loving kid inside me and let go a little.  Fortunately for me, I have friends who are more than happy to help me remember and reconnect!

So this one is for Jake and our day at Isle of Palms!  For making me laugh, for helping me find my silly, and for all the fun times :)

Fun Day

Plunge into the depths
Sink into the blue’s embrace
Feel the tide push and pull
Hear the waves crash overhead

Let the water sweep you off your feet
Ride the wave of frothy white
Sprawl upon the sandy shore
Taste the freedom and the joy

Listen to the sweet laughter of a friend
Smell the sharp scent of sunscreen
Scoop and push and pile the sand
Watch the seagulls soar above

Pile back into the car
Sand and gear and salty hair
Feel the joy and gratitude
For friends and sun and sand and ocean blue

  1. It’s so easy to take life too seriously! I know I do it too often as well. Glad you were able to get to the ocean and remember and reconnect. Beautiful poem!
